About Us

Our Story

My name is Suhua Huang, and I am a Reading professor at Midwestern State University.

My journey with children’s literature began quietly during my graduate studies in Tennessee. I found myself surrounded by books—each one opening a new way of seeing, thinking, and understanding the world. Those pages did more than tell stories; they gently guided me toward a new path—one that led me to pursue Literacy Education in my doctoral studies.

Since then, reading has become not only part of my work, but part of who I am. Each semester, I share new books with my students, and together we discover the voices, emotions, and possibilities that live within them. I continue to find joy in that unfolding journey.

Through teaching, I have met educators, parents, and children from many different walks of life. Over time, I have come to understand that every person carries a story—quiet or vivid, simple or complex—waiting to be heard.

That discovery of the power of words led me to begin writing.  I write to capture those small, meaningful moments. I write to encourage, to comfort, and to remind readers that their stories matter. My recent books, My Name is Chichi and The Musical Family, are part of this journey—each one a reflection of my belief that stories can connect us, shape us, and gently light the way forward. My recent books, My Name is Chichi and The Musical Family, are part of this journey—each one a reflection of my belief that stories can connect us, shape us, and gently light the way forward. Through both teaching and writing, I continue walking this path, where stories are not only told, but quietly lived, remembered, and passed on.

Our Mission
